Dawn raids to carry on over Christmas

We have just been informed that the Home Office will continue its practice of dawn raids on Glasgow’s asylum seeker families over the Christmas period. In practice, this means that over 1200 families, many of whom have been in Glasgow for up to six years, will be forced to live in fear of dawn raids over the christmas and New year period.

Whatever happened to peace and goodwill to all people?

Dawn raids are a shame on our country and I want no part in condoning this life-shattering practice. Have people not suffered enough?

2% of the british popluation have migrated to other countries in the past year – most those highly educated and skilled. Has the government started to ask why? We NEED new people, especially those who can enrich our diversity.

  2. Obviously the Home Office expect people to be to too busy over the festive season to bother about “Dawn Raids”. But then, not everyone thinks like the Home Office, thank god!!

Maybe a “guiding star” will guide three wise men to the HO, and between the three of them, sort out this inhumane practice.

  3. what are the alternatives to dawn raids considering the fact not all aylum seekers can stay in europe.
    many thanks,
    sita patel.

  4. Each individual from the HO should spend even a few seconds to think about what it would feel like to live in fear of losing their homes and be separated from their families…. a frightening thought in any circumstance, never mind at this time of year?

Its barabric and inhumane and I pray that the “powers that be” will see the light and change this decision!!

  5. You’ll be praying for a very long time I’m afraid if you consider the kind of mentality involved.
One that will allow a person to get into work early enough to perform a dawn raid, frighten children to screaming pitch and put adults in fear of their lives.
Then go home and be the loving parent ?
They don’t give a damn outside of servicing their mortgages and car loan.

  6. What an attitude you have Mr Woods!
Why shouldn’t Immigration staff be allowed carry out their job/function according to the law of the land?

Why should immigration officials give a damn about removing illegal failed asylum seekers? You must remember that the families visited by the officials are failed asylum seekers who have no right to remain here and blatantly refuse to leave of their own accord.

If you are so against dawn raids would you like to offer an alternative method of returning these families to their own countries? You must remember that in the majority of these cases the courts of this country have dismissed their asylum appeals.

  7. Well said Shuck, at least somebody isn’t afraid to say what they feel in this new politically correct Britain.

Immigration staff have to do their jobs just like you petition to keep the FAILED Asylum Seekers here (please note the key word is in capitals)

  8. They don’t “have to do their jobs ” at all. They could get work at IKEA or ASDA and earn a living which does’nt involve harassing already disposessed families.
And before any of you armchair warriors presume to tell me it’s not so bad where they fled from, I spent 5 years in the war-zone in Southern Africa 1970 – 1975 and I’ve seen it close up.
You could’nt live like that why should they ?
    Failed in capitals ?
The courts of this country are a disgrace, witness the perverts serving community service, the largely ignored ASBOs, and the armies of NEDS.
    All courtesy of our courts.
    Note the capitals.

  9. Quite a lot of so called ‘Immigration Officers’ are really seconded from the police force. The Home Office can’t get, or spare, the staff.

  10. Says it all really.

  11. Can you offer an alternative Mr Dodds?

  12. Mr Dodds, If you are so against dawn raids would you like to offer an alternative method of returning these families to their own countries? You must remember that in the majority of these cases the courts of this country have dismissed their asylum appeals.

Would you like to offer an alternative Mr Woods? Or do accept that there is not one?
