If the main aim of your sleepouts was to gain support for the ending of “Dawn Raids” and “Detention” can someone please give me an idea as to what the proposed alternatives are?

Why do they make themselves destitute as there is surely no reason why they cannot return home. I know that the home ofice will pay for them to go home or the IOM will help them.
Are they destitute because they are evading the BIA who would like to legally remove them?
